Steel Guitar Rag
as played by the Hilltoppers, 2008
The Hilltoppers is a group of musicians who love to play together and have fun doing it. We have been playing together as a group since 2006. We play mostly Bluegrass, Traditional, and Gospel music.
Group members:
Jerry Harris - Guitar, Vocals
Betty Harris - Mandolin, Vocals
Agene Parsons - Hammered Dulcimer, Autoharp, Vocals
Evelyn Madewell - Fiddle
Carson Madewell - Guitar, Autoharp
Marilyn Reppond - Bass
Music has been very much a part of all our lives as we have participated in church and school choirs, bands, orchestras, community music programs, etc. A few of us play several instruments. However, it is interesting to note that most of us have not been playing our current instruments very long - a maximum of about 10 years.
With the exception of one, all of us are retirees. As we have aged, our interests in music and instruments changed, leaning more toward traditional and bluegrass music. Thus our love for the sounds of the music these instruments bring has had much influence on our lives. It was only natural that our broad range of musical interests and abilities would help us bring together a wide variety of tunes and arrangements wherever we play.
YOU DON'T STOP PLAYING OR SINGING BECAUSE YOU GROW OLD - YOU GROW OLD BECAUSE YOU STOP PLAYING OR SINGING!
[Private lessons are available if you are interested in learning how to play the autoharp, fiddle or hammered dulcimer. For contact information see our "Contact Us" page.]
